“When we place our trust in Jesus as our Savior, He gives us the power to fully live in all that God desires for us. This is why when Jesus talks about following Him, He points out some defining characteristics of living alive in Him. 

But now we need a little warning. If we’re not careful, following Christ becomes about trying to impress Christ or earn something from God.  

It’s easy to start focusing on what we do for Jesus rather than all that Jesus has done for us. The problem is we try to follow Christ for the wrong “reasons and are fueled by the wrong motivation. We aim at living better for Christ instead of living alive in Christ.

Living alive in Christ is not about doing something for Jesus. Living alive is all about living in the love and power of everything Jesus has already done for us. 

Many people get this mixed up and this is what saps the very life out of following Christ. Living alive is not trying harder. It’s not about being better or even knowing more.

Living alive is living everyday focusing on all that Christ has done for us to give us life. 

As we focus on all that Christ has accomplished for us it creates a desire in us to live alive in Christ. Seeing Christ’s greatness and love for us, transforms us. It is not religious fear or moral guilt that changes us. 

Christ transforms us. As we stand in awe of who Christ is and what He has done for us, we come alive to passionately follow Jesus Christ.

Living with passion is not a feeling or mere emotion. It’s a belief in something so valuable, so worthy that it drives us to action. Passion is what motivates us to sacrifice everything of value, to have what we value above everything else.

Jesus wants our passion, not our morality or effort. He wants us to follow Him out of desire to be with Him, not out of fear or guilt. He desires that we pursue Him because He is more valuable than anything else. When we follow Christ out of passion, then everything is transformed. Passion is the only way to live alive.

Why do you follow Christ? Are you trying to live better for Christ instead of living alive to all that Christ has achieved for you? Pray that God reveals His greatness to you so that you see the value of Christ above all other things. You will never really pursue Christ unless you are passionate about Christ.”
