PONDERING TODAY 10/24/2020

“As human beings, we are far from perfect. We need to be on guard because the most dangerous thing we can do is to deceive ourselves into thinking we are doing what God wants. We might be thinking that we have been doing the right thing for years. We might believe that we are humble in our success and our failures, but success is so deceiving that sometimes we don’t see our downfall coming until it is too late. But God doesn’t want us to stay in a state of deception. God wants us to rely on Him above everything else.

In what ways are you trying to have God on your own terms? Do you find yourself picking and choosing what situations you want Him involved in? Do you sometimes ignore godly counsel because you believe in what your eyes see over what God truly wants for you? In what ways have you deceived yourself into thinking that God has blessed something that is actually sinful?

Take the time to think through and answer these questions.

Prayer Time – God, I come before you praising you because you are perfect. You know more than I do and you always will. I know that my life is better in your hands than in my own. So right now I give you my life.

I don’t want my life or my relationship with you on my terms. I want it on your terms. You love me and you want good things for me so I know that your terms will always be better than my terms.

Help me be wise and choose you and your terms over my pride and desire for success. My life only finds fulfillment in you, so I hand over my life to you to do as you wish. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
