Sweet, Sweet, Sweet Inspiration
by Anita Skocz
From childhood to adulthood I admired the way that my dad lived his life with unwavering authenticity. His kind and gentle nature flowed effortlessly, and he always found the good in the people that he met, and the experiences that he had. With patience and mindfulness my dad chose his words with care. Knowing the power of words, he would select the ones that lifted a heavy heart, or breathed new life into a deflated spirit. That is why, when in his presence, the best of yourself always surfaced no matter who you were, and his hand reached out in true friendship to all.
My book Kite Tale sprang to life as I observed the beautiful relationship my father had with his grandson David. At times they seemed inseparable as they would go on memorable adventures or joked while playing games. Although he was just a young boy, David felt the magic in his grandfather, and their warm trusting bond molded David’s character and fed his soul and imagination.
I believe that God plants many seeds within us. Kindness, love and God’s grace nurture those seeds, and in time with enough nurturing they grow into a ripe spiritual fruit. The fruits are truths and values intended to feed the souls of those put on our path as we journey on this earth. Watching my father lovingly teach his grandson how to respect and appreciate all God’s creations, and to love unconditionally without judgment, fertilized the seed in me that was to bare the fruit of the book Kite Tale.
My father’s gift as a storyteller took root in me when I was young. His humble precious soul that fed many resides with the angels now, but he was the sweet, sweet, sweet inspiration that brought this story of family, friendship, unity, simplicity and inner beauty to life.
